6.37

釋曰：此上品中生人，十信五心已前人。十信第六心名不退心，生經七日，得彼第六不退之心，故名於菩提得不退轉。初往生時即名不退者，此約處不退說。此兩經文各據一義，不相違也。

Explanation: This person of middle rebirth of the upper grade is someone prior to the fifth mind of the ten faiths. The sixth mind of the ten faiths is called the mind of non-retrogression; seven days after being reborn, he attains that sixth mind of non-retrogression, and therefore it is called attaining non-retrogression in bodhi. As for being termed non-retrogressive upon first being reborn, this is spoken with reference to non-retrogression of place. These two passages of sūtra text each rely on one meaning, and do not contradict each other.
