6.48

問曰：一念十念阿彌陀佛得生西方，為是唯用此念佛而得往生？為更藉餘法門方得生耶？若唯取此念者，未解此念經雖說言即是具足無上功德，如何一念即成無上功德也？

Question: When one thought-moment or ten recitations of Amitābha attain birth in the West, is it solely by means of this recollection of the Buddha that one attains rebirth in the Pure Land, or does one further rely on other Dharma-doors before being able to be born? If one solely takes this recollection, though the sūtra explains that this recollection is itself the complete fulfillment of unsurpassed merit, it is not yet understood: how can a single thought-moment immediately accomplish unsurpassed merit?
