釋淨土群疑論 7.10

7.10

問曰：若人一生已來修行三福及十六觀，或臨命終時遇善知識，一聲十聲稱佛名號，罪根消滅，令得往生。此人或時命猶不斷，更經多日方始壽終，為復更須念佛方生淨土？為不得念佛亦往生耶？

Question: Suppose a person has cultivated the three blessings and the sixteen contemplations throughout their life, or at the approach of death encounters a good spiritual friend and recites the Buddha's name once or ten times, so that the roots of their sins are eradicated and they attain rebirth in the Pure Land. If this person's life is not yet severed and they only end their life-span after many days have passed, must they further practice buddhānusmṛti to be born in the Pure Land? Or can they also attain rebirth without further buddhānusmṛti?
