7.44

問曰：《華嚴經》言「淨業念佛三昧門，見一切眾生業如鏡中像。」未知所見業相，或其人久死諸趣受生，三昧境中仍現斯相，為實為假，事真難解。為是本質來現境中？為是自心假變現乎？業者是思，如何得見？其義幽隱，請陳厥旨。

Question: The Avataṃsaka Sūtra states: 'The buddhānusmṛti-samādhi gate of pure karma sees the karma of all sentient beings like images in a mirror.' We do not know whether the karmic signs seen—such as when a person has long been dead and reborn in various destinies, yet within the samādhi realm this sign still appears—are real or false; this matter is truly difficult to understand. Is it that the original object (bimbamātra) comes and manifests within the realm? Or is it a false manifestation produced by one's own mind? Since karma is intention (cetanā), how can it be seen? The meaning is profound and hidden; please explain its purport.
