Explanation: There are three explanations of this. First, it is a parasaṃbhoga-kṣetra: because the Buddha's body is sixty trillion nayutas of Ganges sands of yojanas in height, because there are many ekajātipratibaddhas within it, because there is no suffering whatsoever and only the experience of various pleasures, and so forth, it is exclusively a parasaṃbhoga-kṣetra. Second, it is said that it is exclusively a nirmāṇa-kṣetra: What sacred teaching states that if the Buddha is sixty trillion nayutas of Ganges sands of yojanas in height, it proves that it is a parasaṃbhoga body and land? What prevents a transformation body in a pure land from being sixty trillion nayutas of Ganges sands of yojanas in height? Since texts like the Guan jing all speak of pṛthagjana sentient beings attaining rebirth in the Pure Land, we know that it is a nirmāṇa-kṣetra. Third, it is common to both lands: those prior to the bhūmis see a nirmāṇa-kṣetra, and those on the bhūmis see a parasaṃbhoga-kṣetra; occupying the same single place, each according to their own mind sees differently, so it is common to both lands. For this reason, the sūtra states that this Amitābha is not the domain of pṛthagjanas, and that they should perform the contemplation of the sixteen-foot [body].
