I explain: Although the samādhi is the same, its shallowness or depth differs. If it is deep, it reaches up to the ultimate noble fruit and obtains these benefits; as in the text of the Bhadrapāla Sūtra concerning the one hundred and twenty questions, all such superior benefits are attained. Hence the sūtra says: "Furthermore, a bodhisattva cultivating such a samādhi will accomplish them, as inquired now." Although the practitioners of today have not yet fully cultivated such a samādhi, they also can obtain various superior virtues according to their capacity. For example, all dragons can raise clouds and bring forth rain: when a great dragon makes rain fall, it moistens the entire trichiliocosm; when a small dragon raises clouds, it does not cover even a few miles. Yet both nourish the grasses and trees and moisten both roots and stems; though wide and narrow differ, both are called bringing down moisture. The samādhi is also like this: although there are differences in superior and inferior, both are able to see the buddhas, and both are born into the house of the buddhas.
