"Avalokiteśvara and Mahāsthāmaprāpta of great renown,
their virtues and wisdom are both immeasurable;
fully endowed with compassion to save the world,
they roam everywhere through the ocean of all sentient beings.
Such superior beings are exceedingly difficult to meet;
single-mindedly and reverently I bow with head to the ground.
Sentient beings sleep long in the darkness of ignorance;
only this great compassion can awaken them.
Manifesting physical forms in accord with conditions,
like a loving father mindful of an only child,
we only pray that your compassion saves us equally;
single-mindedly and reverently I bow to the lamps illuminating the world.
Homage to Avalokiteśvara and Mahāsthāmaprāpta,
who constantly enter the world without a moment's rest,
going to the six destinies to rescue all living beings.
Their physical forms are supreme, like purple gold;
their dignified deportment is serene, beyond compare in the world.
A jeweled vase and transformed buddhas are within their heavenly crowns;
single-mindedly and reverently I bow to their skillful means.
They shake immeasurable three-thousandfold worlds;
in stepping and pausing, wondrous flowers constantly support their feet.
Always with jeweled hands they receive sentient beings;
single-mindedly and reverently I bow to the bestowers of fearlessness.
Through immeasurable, boundless, and countless kalpas,
they have widely cultivated vow-power to assist Amitābha.
Constantly dwelling amid the great assembly to proclaim the Dharma teachings,
sentient beings who hear them attain the pure eye.
We only pray that in life after life we constantly see them in person;
therefore single-mindedly I bow with head to the ground.
Their supernormal powers pervade the lands of the ten directions,
manifesting universally before all sentient beings.
If sentient beings can be mindful of them with utmost sincerity,
they will guide them all to Sukhāvatī.
Pity us in the world, loving and compassionate fathers;
therefore single-mindedly I bow with head to the ground.
Peacefully seated upon transmundane lotus seats,
like Mount Sumeru shining upon the great ocean,
taming sentient beings to attain fearlessness;
single-mindedly and reverently I bow to the lions among humans.
Having followed the sūtras,
I have praised the jeweled virtues of Avalokiteśvara.
Such virtues can never be exhausted,
just as a single hair-drop compares to the great ocean.
Even if the Tathāgatas of the ten directions
praised them for an entire kalpa, they could not exhaust them;
such is their boundless and inexhaustible treasury,
therefore single-mindedly I bow with head to the ground.
Having praised Avalokiteśvara and Mahāsthāmaprāpta,
I next praise the bodhisattvas of the ten directions;
may this merit pervade the world,
and dedicating it, may we and sentient beings be born together in that land."
