所言因與果相對者。謂金剛已還菩薩所住名果報土，不名淨土，未離苦諦之果患故；唯佛所居乃名淨土，一切染患無餘滅故。依此義故，《仁王經》言：「三賢、十聖住果報，唯佛一人居淨土。一切眾生暫住報，登金剛原居淨土。」

Regarding the contrast between cause and fruit: The dwelling places of bodhisattvas up to the vajra stage are called fruition reward lands and not called pure lands, because they have not yet departed from the afflictions of the fruit of the truth of suffering; only the dwelling of the Buddha is called a pure land, because all defiled afflictions are extinguished without remainder. Relying on this meaning, the Humane Kings Sūtra says: "The three [grades of] worthy and ten [grades of] holy dwell in retribution; only the Buddha alone dwells in the pure land. All sentient beings temporarily dwell in retribution; ascending to the summit of the vajra, one dwells in the pure land."
