If one does not grasp the meaning and takes the literal expression as the truth, whether [asserting] finitude or infinitude, one cannot avoid errors; it is only by relying on the approach of non-finitude that the meaning of infinitude is provisionally stated. If people do not resolve these four doubts, although they may be born in that land, they will reside in the borderland. If there are people who, although they do not clearly understand the realms of the four wisdoms listed above, are able to humble themselves, and, knowing their mind's eye is not yet opened, venerate and defer to the Tathāgata with single-minded submission and faith—such people, in accordance with their grade of practice, will be reborn in that land and will not reside in the borderland. Those born in the borderland are a distinct category, not included within the nine grades. Therefore, one should not give rise to false doubt.
