答曰：「求醫服藥，初不相妨，然藥者只能醫病，不能醫命，命若盡時，藥豈奈何？若殺物命為藥，切不可也！」
He answered: "Seeking doctors and taking medicine does not inherently conflict. However, medicine can only treat illness; it cannot treat one's lifespan. When life has run its course, what can medicine do? If one kills living creatures to make medicine, that is strictly prohibited!"
