1.17

「『鋒刃刀山，毒箭諸苦，女人能集，
眾多苦事。假以香華，而為嚴好，
愚人於此，妄起貪求。如海疲鳥，
迷於彼岸，死必當墮，阿鼻地獄。
現見眾苦，皆來集身，善友乖離，
天宮永失。寧投鐵獄，馳走刀山，
眠臥炎爐，不親女色。』

"Sharp blades and mountains of swords, / Poisoned arrows and various sufferings— / Women are able to assemble / These numerous matters of suffering.
Adorned under false pretenses with fragrant flowers / To make themselves look fair and good, / Foolish people toward them / Falsely generate greedy craving.
Like a weary bird over the ocean / Confused about the opposite shore, / At death they will surely fall / Into the Avīci Hell.
Visible suffering in the present / All arrives and gathers upon their bodies; / Good friends are estranged and separated, / And the heavenly palaces are lost forever.
Better to cast oneself into an iron prison, / Run across mountains of swords, / Or sleep upon a blazing furnace, / Than to be intimate with female beauty.
