問曰：「經明是心是佛，是心作佛。何用遠稱彌陀，存想於極樂之國；近念諸佛，興敬於未來之尊。此皆自外而求，豈曰是心是佛耶？」

The question asks: “The sūtra explains that ‘this mind is Buddha, this mind creates Buddha.’ What need is there to recite the name of Amida far away and maintain thoughts of the land of Sukhāvatī, or to be mindful of the buddhas near at hand and give rise to reverence for the honored ones of the future? These are all seeking from outside; how can they be called ‘this mind is Buddha’?”
