四十八願第十八云「設我得佛，十方眾生至心信樂，欲生我國，乃至十念，若不生者，不取正覺；唯除五逆、誹謗正法。」又下卷云「諸有聞佛名號，信心歡喜，乃至一念迴向願生，即得往生；唯除五逆、誹謗正法。」

The eighteenth of the forty-eight vows states: 'If, when I attain Buddhahood, sentient beings in the ten directions with sincere minds and joyful faith desire to be born in my land, down to ten recitations, should they not be born, may I not attain perfect awakening—excepting only those who commit the five heinous offenses and slander the correct Dharma.' Furthermore, the lower fascicle states: 'All those who hear the name of the Buddha, rejoice with a mind of faith, and dedicate their thoughts to rebirth even for a single thought-moment will immediately attain rebirth—excepting only those who commit the five heinous offenses and slander the correct Dharma.'
