佛言：「後世人得佛經語，當熟思之，能於其中端心正行，主行為善、率化其下，轉相勅令各自端守，廣殖德本、布恩施惠、忍辱精進、一心智慧、正心正意齋戒清淨一日一夜，勝在無量壽國為善百歲。所以者何？彼佛國土無為自然，皆積眾善，無毛髮之惡。故於此修善十日十夜，勝於他方諸佛國中為善千歲，以他方佛國為善者多、為惡者少故。唯此多惡無有自然，心勞形困、飲苦食毒。吾哀汝等，苦心誨諭，教令修善。」

The Buddha said: 'When people of future generations obtain the words of the Buddha's sūtras, they should ponder them thoroughly. If among them they can make their minds upright and their conduct correct, personally doing good and leading their inferiors by transformation, enjoining one another to each preserve their integrity, broadly planting the roots of virtue, bestowing kindness and charity, practicing forbearance and vigorous progress, with focused mind and wisdom, and maintaining pure fasting and precepts with an upright mind and intention for a single day and night, this surpasses doing good in the land of Immeasurable Life for a hundred years. Why is this? That Buddha's land is unconditioned and spontaneous; all accumulate various goods without a hair's breadth of evil. Therefore, cultivating good here for ten days and ten nights surpasses doing good in other Buddha lands for a thousand years, because in other Buddha lands there are many who do good and few who do evil. Only here is there much evil and nothing spontaneous; the mind is weary and the body exhausted, drinking bitterness and eating poison. Pitying you all, I painstakingly instruct and admonish you, teaching you to cultivate goodness.'
