普廣菩薩白佛言：「何故經中讚嘆阿彌陀佛剎七寶諸樹、宮殿樓閣，諸願生者，皆悉隨彼所欲應念而至？」佛告普廣：「汝不解我意。娑婆世界人多貪濁，信向者少、習邪者多，不信正法、不能專一。令諸眾生專心有在，是故讚嘆彼佛國土諸往生者，悉隨彼願無不獲果。」

Bodhisattva Samantavistāra addressed the Buddha, saying: "Why is it that in the sutras, the seven-jeweled trees, palaces, and pavilions of Amitābha Buddha's land are praised, such that all who vow to be born there have everything arrive in response to thought according to whatever they desire?" The Buddha told Samantavistāra: "You do not understand my intention. The people of the Sahā world are mostly greedy and defiled; those who have faith and lean [toward the Dharma] are few, while those who practice heterodoxies are many; they do not believe the true Dharma and cannot focus single-mindedly. In order to cause all sentient beings to have a place to focus their minds, I therefore praise that buddha's land so that all who are reborn there will follow their vows and none will fail to obtain the fruit."
