文殊白佛言：「我念過去寶威德上王佛，時有長者名一切施。長者有子，名曰戒護。子在母胎，以敬信故，預為其子受三歸依。生年八歲，童子見佛，恭敬作禮。一見佛故，即得除滅百千萬億生死之罪。從是已後，常生淨土，得百千億念佛三昧門。故今釋尊復記之曰：『文殊師利！汝當往生極樂世界證入初地。』」

Mañjuśrī addressed the Buddha, saying: "I recall that in the past, in the time of the Buddha Ratnatejas Superior King, there was an elder named Sarvadāna. The elder had a son named Śīlarakṣita. While the son was in the mother's womb, due to reverent faith, she had him take the three refuges in advance. When eight years of age, the boy saw the Buddha and paid reverent homage. Through this single seeing of the Buddha, he immediately eradicated hundreds of thousands of koṭis of sins of birth and death. From then on, he was constantly born in pure lands and attained hundreds of thousands of koṭis of gateways to the samādhi of buddha-mindfulness. Therefore, the Śākya Honoured One now further predicts for him, saying: 'Mañjuśrī! You shall be reborn in the World of Utmost Bliss and realize entry into the First Ground.'"
