I prostrate myself and respectfully consider that Amitābha manifests in accordance with sentient beings' minds, while sentient beings escape from entanglements by relying on Amitābha's wisdom and vows. Outside of response, there is no receptive capacity: this is simply all Buddhas within the minds of sentient beings. Outside of receptive capacity, there is no response: this is simply sentient beings within the minds of all Buddhas. Sentient beings and Buddhas are of one suchness; stimulus and response reach the same goal. The hundred negations are all dispelled; the four mental states are completely eliminated. When it is thus, in thought after thought no doubt arises, and in sound after sound all is vimokṣa. Joyfully meeting with this wondrous matter and aspiring to form excellent causes, we have amassed provisions and broadly invited monastic and lay people. The bodhi-minds of the multitude have all arisen, and this excellent gathering of ten years has fortunately come to fruition; within and without there is joy and rejoicing, respectfully offering celebration and repentance. We prostrate ourselves and consider that Amitābha, the compassionate father, and Śākya, the guiding teacher, jointly mature our capacities and conditions through repelling and gathering, and together accomplish excellent karma without partiality or bias. We hope that sentiments regarding distance and proximity will be extinguished, that views of purity and defilement will be forgotten, and that, without waiting for the descent of Maitreya, we may swiftly realize the supreme grade of Quiescent Light. Like an iron hook hooking an elephant, may we all accompany the roaming of the Lotus Society; like a wax seal impressing mud, may we directly participate above the jeweled ponds. We devote our bodies and forfeit our lives, carving this into our bones and inscribing it on our flesh. We reach upward to beseech vast compassion, looking up with reverence for luminous reflection. Respectfully presented.
