佛國差別之相無量無邊，今略為四：一、染淨國，凡聖共居；二、有餘國，方便人住；三、果報國，純法身居；四、常寂光，妙覺所居。前二是應，即應佛所居；第三亦應亦報，即報佛所居；後一但是真淨，非應非報，法身所居。

The different characteristics of buddha lands are immeasurable and boundless, but now we briefly summarize them into four: First, the Land of Defilement and Purity, where commoners and sages cohabit; second, the Land with Remainder, where people of expedient means dwell; third, the Land of Retribution, where pure dharmakāyas dwell; fourth, the [Land of] Eternally Quiescent Light, where wondrous awakening dwells. The former two are transformation [realms], that is, where transformation buddhas dwell; the third is both transformation and reward, that is, where reward buddhas dwell; the last one is purely true and pure, neither transformation nor reward, where the dharmakāya dwells.
