晁太傅《耄智遺書》曰「作淨土觀法，乃小乘權術也。有能有所、有取有舍，盡為生死輪迴。見大乘之人，當自了知。」

Grand Tutor Chao's Maozhi yishu says: 'Cultivating the contemplation methods of the Pure Land is an expedient technique of the Hīnayāna. Where there is a subject and an object, grasping and abandoning, it is entirely the saṃsāric cycle of birth and death. Those who see the Mahāyāna ought to know this naturally.'
