觀經第八像觀云。是故行者心想佛時。是心即是三十二相八十隨形好。至云想彼佛者先當想像。閉目開目見一寶像等。

The eighth contemplation, the contemplation of the image, in the Contemplation Sūtra states: "Therefore, when the practitioner's mind contemplates the Buddha, this mind is itself the thirty-two marks and eighty secondary signs." It goes on to say: "Those who wish to contemplate that Buddha should first contemplate his image; with eyes closed or eyes open, they see an image of jewels," and so forth.
