1.34

《寶王論》引《起信論》曰「依方故迷，方實不轉。夫如是，則悟者悟於一方，群方自正；念者念於一佛，諸佛現前。所謂水不上升、月不下降，光淨因緣，虛空皓月現於清水。彼佛不來、我身不往，念佛因緣，如來寶月現於心水。故頌曰：菩薩清涼月，游於畢竟空，眾生心水淨，菩提影現中。」

The Baowang lun quotes the Awakening of Faith, stating: "One is confused because of the directions, yet the directions do not actually shift. Being so, those who awaken are awakened in one direction, and all directions naturally become correct; those who are mindful are mindful of one buddha, and all buddhas manifest before them. As it is said, water does not rise up, and the moon does not descend; through the causes and conditions of bright purity, the bright moon in empty space appears in clear water. That buddha does not come, and my body does not go; through the causes and conditions of mindfulness of the buddha, the jewel-moon of the Tathāgata appears in the water of the mind. Thus the verse says: 'The bodhisattva's cool and pure moon / Wanders in ultimate emptiness; / When the water of sentient beings' minds is pure, / The reflection of bodhi appears within it.'"
