龍舒曰：「或者疑之云：此間念佛，西方七寶池中如何便生蓮華一朵？余告云：此不難知也。譬如大明鏡，凡有物來便現其影。鏡何甞有心哉？以其明而自然耳。彌陀佛國清淨明潔，照見十方世界，猶如明鏡睹其面像。是故此間念佛，西方七寶池中自然生蓮華一朵，待伊託生。無足疑也。」

Longshu said: "Someone doubted it, saying: 'When someone here practices buddhānusmṛti, how does a lotus blossom immediately sprout in the Seven-Jewel Pond of the West?' I told him, saying: 'This is not difficult to understand. For instance, in a great, bright mirror, whenever an object approaches, its image is immediately reflected. How could the mirror ever have an intentional mind? It is simply spontaneous because of its brightness. The land of Amitābha Buddha is pure and brightly clean; it illumines and perceives the worlds of the ten directions just as a bright mirror reflects a face and image. Therefore, when someone here practices buddhānusmṛti, a lotus blossom spontaneously sprouts in the Seven-Jewel Pond of the West, awaiting that person's rebirth. There is no reason to doubt this.'"
