寂室曰：「世人修行淨業，勿得言我今忙迫且待閑暇、我今貧乏且待富足、我今少壯且待老時。若己分定常忙、分定貧乏、分定夭折，即於淨業無緣修習。忽爾喪亡，雖悔何及。是故奉勸諸人，即今安健，努力修之。」

Jishi said: "When people of the world cultivate pure karma, they must not say: 'I am busy and pressed for time right now, so let me wait for leisure; I am impoverished right now, so let me wait for wealth and sufficiency; I am young and vigorous right now, so let me wait for old age.' If it is one's lot to be constantly busy, one's lot to be impoverished, or one's lot to die young, then one will have no opportunity to cultivate and practice pure karma. If one suddenly passes away, how can regret help? Therefore, I urge everyone: while you are now safe and healthy, apply your efforts to cultivate it!"
