At Mount Baiyun in Tiantai, there was Dharma Master Jingyuan, who transmitted the Tiantai teachings and contemplations. He once composed a Western Ritual Liturgy, which Vinaya Master Dazhi of Lingzhi prefaced and circulated. Its phrasing was divinely crafted, truly running neck and neck with Indian repentance texts. Within it, only the four types of sages were listed, while a chapter praising the Dharma was lacking. Upāsaka Li Ji of Zhachuan, having set his heart on pure karma, once supplemented it, saying: With supreme sincerity I take refuge and pay homage to the pure Dharma treasury of all the subtle and wondrous Dharma-gates of the perfect vehicle in the Western Land of Peace and Bliss.
