晝必為夜，必為夜備；暑必有寒，
必為寒備；存必有去，必為去備。
何為夜備？燈燭床蓐。何謂寒備？
衾裘炭薪。何謂去備？福慧淨土。

Day will inevitably become night: one must prepare for the night; / Heat will inevitably be followed by cold: one must prepare for the cold; / Existence will inevitably have departure: one must prepare for departure. / What is preparation for night? Lamps, candles, bed, and mat. / What is preparation for cold? Quilts, furs, charcoal, and firewood. / What is preparation for departure? Blessings, wisdom, and the Pure Land.
