10.30

龍舒王虛中日休，博覽群書之餘，留心佛乘，以利人為己任，真火中蓮也。佛言「自未得度先度人者，菩薩發心。自覺已圓能覺他者，如來應世。」予嘉其志，為題其後。若見自性之阿彌，即了唯心之淨土。未能如是，則虛中為此文，功不唐捐矣。

Wang Xuzhong, Rixiu of Longshu, in the leisure of his extensive reading of all books, set his mind on the Buddha Vehicle and took benefiting others as his personal duty; he is truly a lotus amidst fire. The Buddha said: 'To cross others over before one has crossed oneself is the resolve of a bodhisattva. To already have perfected self-awakening and be able to awaken others is the Tathāgata responding to the world.' I commend his aspiration and write this after his work. If one sees the Amitābha of one's own nature, one understands the Mind-Only Pure Land. If one is not yet able to do so, then Xuzhong's composing this text will not have its merit wasted.
