東晉遠法師倡首修淨土，本朝王敏仲侍郎及近年錢塘陸居士，編集感應事跡凡二百餘傳，皆鏤板流傳。今不及盡載，略取其齋戒修者及中人修者及罪惡人修者及疾苦中修者共三十傳，所以發人之信心也。

Dharma Master Yuan of the Eastern Jin was the first to initiate the cultivation of the Pure Land. Vice Minister Wang Minzhong of the present dynasty and Layman Lu of Qiantang in recent years compiled over two hundred biographies of accounts of stimulus and response, all of which were carved onto printing blocks and circulated. Now I cannot record them all, so I have briefly selected thirty biographies in total—of those who cultivated with vegetarianism and precepts, average people who cultivated, sinful and evil people who cultivated, and those who cultivated amidst sickness and suffering—in order to inspire people's faith.
