5.40

靜文妻，久患在床，靜文勸以念阿彌陀佛。乃念佛二年不絕，遂見淨土，乃告靜文言：「我見佛了，後月定去。」又以食獻父母云：「今得隨聖往生。願父母及夫專念佛，來西方相見。」言訖而終。前三日見蓮華大如日輪。

Jingwen's wife had long been ill in bed, and Jingwen encouraged her to practice recollection of Amitābha Buddha. She then practiced recollection of the Buddha for two years without interruption, and thereupon she saw the Pure Land. She told Jingwen: "I have seen the Buddha, and will certainly depart next month." She also presented food to her parents, saying: "Now I have attained rebirth accompanying the Sage. I wish that my parents and husband will dedicate yourselves to recollection of the Buddha, and come to the Western Direction to meet me." Having spoken, she passed away. Three days before, she had seen a lotus flower as large as the sun's disc.
