在公門者當自念云：彼為有官，我乃事彼。彼尊我卑、彼逸我勞，奉事常喜得以無虞，或有觸忤加之譴責。是我前世所修不及於彼，故至於此。我但小心謹行，以保此身，事無大小隨宜方便，目前人見歡悅，必無後患。積善不已，福及子孫。當思在公門者，其子孫榮顯必祖上積德，天道昭明不可不信。更常念阿彌陀佛，願生極樂世界，又轉以此化人使更相勸化，非徒現世獲福，身後可中上品生。

Those serving in government offices should reflect: 'They are officials, while I serve them. They are noble and I am lowly; they are at ease and I toil. By serving them with constant cheer I can avoid harm; if I offend them, reproof is added. This is because what I cultivated in previous lives was not equal to theirs, and hence I have reached this state. I need only be careful and cautious in conduct to preserve this body, using skillful means appropriately in matters great and small; when people in my presence see me with delight, there will surely be no future troubles. If I accumulate goodness without ceasing, blessings will reach my descendants.' You should consider that among those in government offices, whose children and grandchildren achieve glory and prominence, it is certainly because their ancestors accumulated virtue. The Way of Heaven is clear and bright; one must not fail to believe it. Furthermore, constantly recite the name of Amitābha Buddha, vow to be born in Sukhāvatī, and in turn use this to transform others and have them mutually exhort and transform one another. Not only will you obtain blessings in this present life, but after this life you can attain rebirth in the middle or highest grade.
