問曰：廣大簡易既聞命矣。如禪宗悟達之士，既曰見性成佛，其肯復求淨土之生乎？答曰：汝未之知耳，悟達之士政願求生。古人云：不生淨土，何土可生？汝但未悟，使汝既悟，則汝淨土之趨，萬牛不能挽矣。

"The guest asked: 'I have heard your instruction on its vastness and simplicity. But in the case of those in the Chan school who have awakened and attained understanding, since they have already seen their nature and become Buddhas, would they be willing to seek rebirth in the Pure Land again?' The Master replied: 'You do not yet know this: those who have awakened and attained understanding precisely vow to seek rebirth. An ancient said: "If one is not born in the Pure Land, in what land could one be born?" It is only that you have not yet awakened; were you already awakened, your inclination toward the Pure Land could not be held back by ten thousand oxen.'"
