10.63

參禪予所不去，念佛亦非予所去者。聞禪有禪病、佛有佛魔，去聖時遙，比比皆是。優曇師眼不忍見，廣援正經盡祛邪說，是集不為無補矣。噫安得盡大地人披翻寶鑑，洞見法源，能所識銷、是非情盡，以惟心淨土本地風光並相忘於言象之表。此予所以不能無說焉。

Engaging in Chan is not something I reject, nor is buddhānusmṛti something I reject. I have heard that Chan has Chan sickness, and the Buddha has Buddha-māras; the holy ones are distant in time, and such things are everywhere. Master Youtan's eyes could not bear to see this, so he broadly cited authentic sūtras to completely eliminate heterodox teachings; this collection cannot be said to be without benefit. Ah! How can all people of the great earth open and peruse the *Precious Mirror*, penetrate and see the source of the Dharma, extinguish cognitive subject and object, exhaust sentiments of right and wrong, and, along with the Mind-only Pure Land and the original state of one's native place, mutually forget both beyond words and forms? This is why I cannot remain without a word.
