The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: “The Buddha is the unexcelled Dharma King, and the great bodhisattvas are his Dharma ministers. That which all the ministers revere is solely the Buddha, the Dharma King; therefore, bodhisattvas should be mindful of the Buddha.” It also says: “There are bodhisattvas who, reflecting upon their past slandering of prajñā, fell into the evil destinies for immeasurable kalpas; although they cultivated other practices, they were unable to escape. Later, meeting a good spiritual friend who taught them to practice the buddhānusmṛti-samādhi, they were immediately able to eliminate their sinful obstacles simultaneously, and only then attained liberation.” It also says in a verse: “If a person vows to become a Buddha, / And in mind is mindful of Amitābha, / He will immediately manifest his body for them; / Therefore I take refuge and bow in homage.”
