Second, as for the inconceivable meaning of nature and characteristics: if one speaks of the land apart from the nature, the land would be external to the mind, and thus illusory; what is illusory is a characteristic of total annihilation, and sentient beings would not be reborn there. If one equates the land with the nature, the nature would have form and would be fixed; what is fixed admits no transformation, and if there is no transformation, sentient beings also would not be reborn. It is identical to nature and identical to characteristics, yet neither nature nor characteristics; positing non-existence does not obliterate existence, and positing identity does not destroy diversity. This is the inconceivable meaning of nature and characteristics.
