"Next, we disciples and the assembly should repent the sins of divisive speech. We may have given free rein to verbal actions, with divisive speech stirring up strife and creating disruption among all animals and sentient beings, the wriggling creatures on land, in water, and in the air, in unknowable numbers. We may have stirred up strife and created disruption among all asuras, ghosts, and spirits, the wriggling creatures on land, in water, and in the air, in unknowable numbers. We may have stirred up strife and created disruption among all humans, devas, the Three Jewels, teachers, monks, parents, relatives of the six relations, kalyāṇamitras, and sentient beings throughout the dharmadhātu, in unknowable numbers. We may have acted constantly, acted uninterruptedly, acted intentionally, acted by accident, or acted in jest; acted ourselves, taught others to act, or rejoiced in the act; or acted out of deviant and evil greed. Sins of divisive speech such as these are measureless and boundless. Now, before the ordinary and holy beings of the bodhimaṇḍa, we reveal and repent them, eliminating them completely without remainder. Having repented, with utmost sincerity we take refuge in Amitābha Buddha."
