May we be reborn, may we be reborn! When Śākyamuni Tathāgata first made his vows, he abruptly abandoned worldly toil to cultivate austerities, diligent in thought after thought without retreat, unlimited by suns, moons, years, or seasons, through great kalpas, small kalpas, and asaṃkhyeya kalpas, exceeding the dust motes of the great earth. Not begrudging body or wealth to seek the wondrous Dharma, with a compassionate vow to deliver sentient beings, he universally urged them to return to the Western Land of Peace and Nurture, to wander carefree and joyful, attaining the threefold gnosis. Let the assembly each devote body and mind, holding fragrant flowers in hand, ever making offerings.
