May we be reborn, may we be reborn! Sentient beings, seeing the Buddha, have their minds awakened, and vow together to be born in the house of all Buddhas. Dwelling in this Sahā world for long now, we cast away our lives in vain through kalpas like sands of dust. We feel our own minds are stubborn and our consciousness dull, truly because in hell we lay upon the copper carriage; the copper carriage is fiercely blazing, unbearable to abide in, dying hundreds of thousands of times within a single thought. Not only herein is there great suffering, but all the narakas are also like this; once entering a naraka, dust-like kalpas pass, and in the paths of animals and hungry ghosts it is likewise. Now having attained a human body, greedy to commit sins, we give rise to slander against the holy teachings of all Buddhas. Slandering the holy teachings, the roots of sin run deep; defaming the good, we long sink in suffering. Although the Great Sage possesses supernormal powers, he is unable to rescue us, which only deepens his compassionate grief. Now we urge the present assembly in the bodhimaṇḍa: openly confess and repent of sins without end. Let the assembly unite their minds toward that Pure Land, holding fragrant flowers in hand, ever making offerings.
