2.116

Aspiring for rebirth, aspiring for rebirth! / When the World-Honoured One's preaching of the Dharma was nearly complete, / He earnestly entrusted the name of Amitābha. / When the five defilements intensify, doubt and slander abound; / Monastics and laity loathe one another and do not wish to hear it. / Seeing those who cultivate, they give rise to the poison of anger; / Employing expedients to destroy them, they vie in generating enmity. / Such people, blind from birth and icchantikas, / Ruin and destroy the sudden teaching and forever sink and drown. / Passing beyond the dust-mote kalpas of the great earth, / They cannot yet escape their bodies in the three wretched paths. / May the great assembly with one mind repent / All the sinful conditions of destroying the Dharma. / May the assembly turn their hearts and be reborn in the Pure Land, / Holding fragrant flowers in hand, always making offerings.
