Joy of leaving household life, joy of leaving household life: from beginningless time, leaving all attachments! Meeting good friends in this life, cutting off familial ties, suddenly casting off coarse feelings, severing all evils—severing all evils. Arousing body and mind, relying on sacred learning, eliminating fetters as the golden blade comes down, shaving the head, putting on robes, partaking of the precious medicine—partaking of the precious medicine. Cherishing Dharma-joy, leaping with ever greater zeal: who would sleep in deep darkness through the long night? On this day, with purified body, rejoicing in the Great Awakening—rejoicing in the Great Awakening. Peace of leaving household life, peace of leaving household life: nothing clashes or interferes! Arriving at twenty years of age, meeting the upādhyāya, reverently receiving the śīla, encountering the pure altar—encountering the pure altar. Cultivating concentration and wisdom, realization is not difficult: awakening is like lapis lazuli, bright inside and out; wondrously compared to a lotus flower, freely surveying all—freely surveying all. Known as a son of Śākya, the Dharma gate is broad; entering and exiting, coming and going on the unhindered path; the path of liberation is boundless, realizing nirvāṇa—knowing nirvāṇa. Return, go home! The jeweled gates open wide: truly seeing Amitābha ascend the jeweled throne, while bodhisattvas scatter flowers and cry: "Excellent!"—cry: "Excellent!" Looking upon the jeweled grove: the water, birds, and tree groves recite in five tones; with plaintive and compassionate voices praising the Dharma King—praising the Dharma King. Jīvañjīvaka birds facing mandarin ducks, parrots and kalaviṅkas expounding the wondrous Dharma, constantly lamenting sentient beings who abide in realms of suffering—abide in realms of suffering. Return, go home! Leave Sahā behind! Constantly abide with the Tathāgata, listening to the wondrous Dharma; the one who points out and confers the Western realm is Śākyamuni—is Śākyamuni. Return, go home! See Amitābha! Now in the West currently expounding the Dharma, transporting and ferrying sentient beings out of the river of passion—out of the river of passion. Return, go home! Ascend the golden dais! Mahāsthāmaprāpta and Avalokiteśvara come to lead the way; the hundred illumination gates of phenomena will naturally open—will naturally open.
