Amitābha's vows and practices are vast and boundless; / in compassion he delivers all beings, universally pitying them all. / He wishes entirely to transform them and bring them back to his own realm, / yet sentient beings' sinful karmas share no affinity [with it]. / Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva is of great compassion, / able to manifest what is rare within the sea of suffering: / thirty-two marks on a purple-gold body, / crowned with Amitābha at the hour of profound veneration. / Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva is truly inconceivable; / his purple-gold body and marks are equal and without flaw. / The precious vase atop his head shines forth brilliant light, / universally gathering those with capacity for buddha-mindfulness and rebirth. / I rejoice for myself that my past karmic connections are deep, / that I have met the pure teachings and sounds of Amitābha. / Upholding his name without rest, / when my retribution ends and the end of life arrives, I shall have a purple-gold body. / I often sigh at my painful diligence, / hoping to hear the supreme Dharma, pure and true. / I must do battle with the thieves of ignorance, / vowing to crush them and obtain the true gold. / In a single thought my spirit settles, going toward the jeweled city; / the six superknowledges arise in mind, and my body feels light. / Feet treading upon a thousand-petaled lotus blossom, / I walk beneath the moonlit mani trees. / Amitābha's pure realm is exceedingly subtle and fine; / how could people in this Sahā world ever know it? / Sunk in the sea of suffering for vast kalpas, / in what year will they encounter the time of rebirth? / The precious realm of Sukhāvatī has neither decline nor change; / jasper towers and pavilions are natural as the heavens. / Mani gems, the bright moon, and lapis lazuli waters; / the radiant ponds and terraces are truly lovely! / The precious realm of Sukhāvatī is exceedingly rare; / in truth, across many lives, one does not know it. / Today I joyfully meet the Honoured Amitābha, / the time to instantly cast away the five turbidities of Sahā. / Amitābha's precious realm is inconceivable; / I lament only that those departing Sahā are few. / To the Avīci hell many people go; / once fallen, in what year will they ever emerge? / Return! Return! / The five turbidities of Jambudvīpa are mere dust and ashes. / It is not like the place of joy in the West, / where upon arrival the flower dais opens at will.
