今雪堂大禪師，臨濟十八代嫡孫、琅瑘第十世的派，王臣尊禮，緇素嚮慕，是亦僧中之龍象爾。不忘祖師恩德，每恨臨濟一言一句、一棒一喝、參承諮決、升堂入室語錄未大發明，刻梓流行，用廣禪林觀聽，仍求北山居士郭天錫為作序引。

Now, the Great Chan Master Xuetang is an eighteenth-generation direct descendant of Linji and the tenth-generation direct lineage of Langye; honored by princes and ministers, admired by both monastic and lay, he is indeed a dragon-elephant among the saṅgha. Not forgetting the ancestral master's kindness and virtue, he constantly regretted that Linji's single words and single phrases, single sticks and single shouts, inquiries and resolutions, and the recorded sayings from entering the room and ascending the hall had not been widely illuminated; so he carved them onto blocks to circulate them and broaden the sight and hearing of the chan grove, further requesting the North Mountain Layman Guo Tianxi to write a preface.
