Alas! Master Xuetang carries out that which is difficult for past ancestral masters to perform; being mindful of the end and pursuing what is distant, he is indeed not without the knowledge of repaying kindness. Bringing forth anew the spittle spat out by that mad old fellow of five hundred years ago, he offers it up. Will today's patch-robed monks still be willing to chew on it? The return of the pearl to Hepu is certainly extraordinary, but popping beans in cold ashes does no harm either.
