雲居結菴于三峯，經日不赴堂。師問：「子近日何不赴齋？」居云：「每日自有天神送供。」師曰：「我將謂汝是箇人，猶作這箇見解在，汝晚間來。」居晚至，師召：「膺菴王。」居應諾。師曰：「不思善、不思惡，是甚麼？」居回菴宗然宴坐，天神自此竟尋不見，如此三日乃絕。

Yunju built a hermitage at Sanfeng, and for days did not come to the hall. The Master asked, "Why haven't you come to the meal recently?" Ju said, "Every day heavenly spirits naturally deliver offerings." The Master said, "I took you for someone [of capacity], yet you still hold this kind of view! Come this evening." Ju arrived in the evening. The Master called, "Hermitage Master Ying!" Ju responded. The Master said, "Thinking neither of good nor of evil, what is it?" Ju returned to the hermitage and sat in quiet sitting absorbedly; from then on, the heavenly spirits could never find him, and after three days like this, [the offerings] ceased entirely.
