良价自離甘旨，杖錫南遊，星霜已換於十秋，岐路俄經於萬里。伏惟孃子收心慕道，攝意歸空，休懷離別之情，莫作倚門之望。家中家事，但且隨時，轉有轉多，日增煩惱。阿兄勤行孝順，須求水裏之魚。小弟竭力奉承，亦泣霜中之笋。夫人居世上，修己行孝，以合天心。僧有空門，慕道參禪而報慈德。今則千山萬水，杳隔二途，一紙八行，聊伸寸意。

Since Liangjie parted from nourishing you with delicacies, carrying his monk's staff on travels to the south, frost and stars have already shifted through ten autumns, and fork-roads have suddenly stretched over ten thousand li. I humbly pray that Mother will calm her mind to long for the Way, collect her thoughts to return to emptiness, harbor no feelings of parting, and do not gaze out leaning against the door. As for the household affairs at home, just adapt to the circumstances; the more you get entangled, the more they multiply, increasing afflictions day by day. Older brother diligently practices filial piety, and must seek fish in the ice; younger brother exhausts his strength in serving, and also weeps for bamboo shoots in the frost. When people dwell in the world, they cultivate themselves and practice filial piety to accord with Heaven's will. Monks possess the empty gate, aspiring to the Way and engaging in Chan to repay loving virtue. Now, separated by a thousand mountains and myriad waters, two paths lie far apart; eight lines on a single sheet of paper merely convey my modest thoughts.
