壽山解禪師行脚時，造師法席。師問曰：「闍黎生緣何處？」云：「和尚若實問某甲，即是閩中人。」師曰：「爾父名什麼？」云：「今日蒙和尚致此一問，直得忘前失後。」

When Chan Master Jie of Shoushan was on itinerant pilgrimage, he came to the Master's Dharma seat. The Master asked, 'Where is the ācārya's native place?' [Jie] said, 'If the upādhyāya asks me truthfully, I am a man of Min.' The Master said, 'What was your father's name?' [Jie] said, 'Today, receiving this question from the upādhyāya, I completely forget what is before and lose what is behind.'
