師會一官人。官人曰：「三祖信心銘，弟子擬註。」師曰：「纔有是非，紛然失心，作麼生註？」法眼代云：「恁麼則弟子不註。」

The Master met an official. The official said, "Your disciple plans to write a commentary on the Third Patriarch's Xinxinming." The Master said, "As soon as there is right and wrong, in confusion you lose your mind—how can you write a commentary?" Fayan said on his behalf: "If so, your disciple will not write a commentary."
