師問雲巖：「某甲有餘習未盡。」巖曰：「汝曾作甚麼來？」師曰：「聖諦亦不為。」巖曰：「還歡喜也未？」師曰：「歡喜則不無，如糞掃堆頭拾得一顆明珠。」

The Master asked Yunyan: 'I have residual habits that are not yet exhausted.' Yunyan said: 'What have you ever done?' The Master said: 'I do not even practice the noble truths.' Yunyan said: 'Are you still joyful or not?' The Master said: 'Joyfulness is not absent—it is like finding a bright pearl atop a dung heap.'
