1.88

師舉：「藥山問僧：『甚處來？』云：『湖南來。』山曰：『洞庭湖水滿也未？』云：『未。』山曰：『許多時雨水，為甚麼未滿？』僧無語。」師代曰：「甚麼劫中曾增減來？」道吾代云：「滿也。」雲巖云：「湛湛地。」

The Master cited: "Yaoshan asked a monk, 'Where have you come from?' The monk said, 'From Hunan.' Yaoshan said, 'Are the waters of Lake Dongting full yet?' He said, 'Not yet.' Yaoshan said, 'After so much rain, why are they not full?' The monk had no words." The Master said in his place, "In what kalpa has it ever increased or decreased?" Daowu said in his place, "Full!" Yunyan said, "Limpid and clear."
