A monk asked, "The upādhyāya is indisposed; is there still one who is not ill?"
The Master said, "There is."
The monk said, "Does the one who is not ill still see the upādhyāya?"
The Master said, "This old monk has a portion in seeing him."
The monk said, "I do not know: how does the upādhyāya see him?"
The Master said, "When this old monk looks, I do not see that there is any illness."
The Master then asked the monk, "Leaving aside the leaking husk, where will you meet with me?"
The monk had no reply.
Thereupon [the Master] presented a verse:
"Students [numerous as] the sands of the Ganges, yet not one is awakened;
Their fault lies in seeking along the path of another's tongue.
If you wish to forget physical form and efface all traces,
Exert yourself diligently in stepping into emptiness."
