2.42

問：「如何是水牯牛？」曰：「冥冥朦朦。」云：「如何是含一莖草來？」曰：「古人道了也，毛羽相似去。」又曰：「一草者，秖是明得不變異也。」

The monk asked, "What is the water buffalo?" The Master said, "Dim and indistinct." The monk said, "What is coming while holding a stalk of grass in its mouth?" The Master said, "An ancient has already said it: 'Fur and feathers resembling each other.'" He also said, "The single stalk of grass simply clarifies being unalterable."
