舉：「石霜云：『須知有教外別傳一句。』僧問：『如何是教外別傳一句？』霜云：『非句。』」師云：「非句始是句。」

[The Master] cited: "Shishuang said: 'One must know there is a phrase of the separate transmission outside the teachings.' A monk asked: 'What is the phrase of the separate transmission outside the teachings?' Shuang said: 'It is a non-phrase.'" The Master said, "Only a non-phrase is the phrase."
